CHAMPAIGN — Normal Community racked up eight three-pointers against Champaign Central on Friday night.

The final trey was a dagger.

Leading 54-52 with time running out in overtime, the Maroons were in position to hold off the Ironmen. Then Tyler Seibring sank a fadeaway three-point shot at the buzzer to lift Normal Community to a 55-54 win.

In his 27th year as the school’s only boys’ soccer coach, Blackman guided the 21-3 Tigers to an undefeated Big 12 Conference season and a runner-up finish in the Class 2A state tournament.

State soccer notes: Urbana appreciates support

FRANKFORT — The Urbana fan base grew in numbers on Saturday compared with Friday’s turnout. Superintendent Preston Williams, athletic director Greg Hall and school board president John Dimit were present. Williams and Dimit both made a ‘U’ symbol to the crowd when they received their state medals.
