Ryan Root won't leave Centennial High School as the same kind of runner who entered in the fall of 2006.

O'Brien finishes 19th at Boston

Danville native Kyle O’Brien, 28, secured a top 20 finish in the 113th Boston Marathon on Monday by averaging 5 minutes, 23 seconds per mile.

Ex-Schlarman runners making marathon push

Three area seniors were chosen to the 15- player combined Class 1A/2A all-state second team selected by the Illinois Coaches Association. They will be invited to play in the annual North-South All-Star game June 20 at Illinois Wesleyan University.

Tom Pacey: All-Area Boys' X-C Runner of the Year

PAXTON – Tom Pacey wouldn't have recommended his training method for the 2008 cross-country season before it started, but he has come around to it after seeing the results.

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda junior has tasted results at every level of competition since he began running in sixth grade. He won a team title that year, then an individual title in eighth grade.

PEORIA – Tom Pacey's dream didn't come true Saturday at the state cross-country meet. But sometimes dreams are only delayed.

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda junior, undefeated in 14 races entering the Class 1A race at Detweiller Park, finished sixth. He had his sights set on a top-three finish, but circumstances might have conspired against him.
