DEER CREEK – Regan Romshek fired a perfect to lead Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley to a 3-0 softball victory Friday against Deer Creek-Mackinaw.
Romshek struck out 14 to improve to 8-3.
Kaiti Bowen homered and drove in two for the Falcons (9-4). Desiree Mouser also had an RBI in the win.
STANFORD – Olympia scored with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to hand previously unbeaten St. Joseph-Ogden a 2-1 softball loss Monday in a matchup of Class 2A state powers.
Spartans senior Jenna Slifer held Olympia to four hits and struck out six in a pitching duel with Dani Williams.
MAROA – Josh Raymond and Andrew Lawson drove in three runs apiece as Mahomet-Seymour remained perfect with a 13-3 victory against Maroa-Forsyth in prep baseball Tuesday.
Colton Nelson, Jason Zeigler and Alex Smith had two hits apiece as M-S improved to 7-0.
Starter Drew Vannoy did not allow an earned run in 41/3 innings.
East Central 9, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 7. Tyler Sanderson went 3 for 4 and Spencer Lowe drove in four runs to power the host Panthers. Hunter Tweedy and Aaron Larson added two RBI apiece.
CHAMPAIGN – Nora Al-Qadi scored in the second minute and Centennial went on to a season-opening 2-0 victory against Urbana Uni High in girls' prep soccer Tuesday.
Grace Ayodele scored in the second half. Keeper Micaela McLennand made two saves. Uni's Eunjung Kim had eight saves.
St. Thomas More 2, Judah Christian 1. Ellie McGrew scored from Ashley Cox in the second half for the decisive goal. The host Sabers also got a first-half goal from Jade Brinkoetter, with Cox assisting.
MONTICELLO – Jordan Latsko pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 for the Monticello baseball team in the host Sages' 13-0 win against South Piatt on Monday. A fifth-inning error prevented Latsko from recording a perfect game.
Latsko aided his own cause at the plate, going 3 for 4 with three RBI. Conner Dalzell recorded three hits and Mitch Milton had two doubles and two RBI for Monticello.
Hoopeston Area 9, Armstrong-Potomac 7. Kyle Hufford went 3 for 3 with an RBI for the host Cornjerkers.
DECATUR — Clint Brubaker scored a game-high 16 points, leading Monticello to a 54-39 victory against Tuscola on Wednesday at the Okaw Valley Conference boys’ basketball tournament.
Chase Little topped the Warriors with 15 points.
DECATUR — Jamie Blue, who was sidelined for six weeks with a broken hand, produced a triple-double in her first game back to lead Urbana University High to an 81-26 girls’ basketball victory against Decatur Christian on Monday.
Blue, a sophomore guard, finished with 34 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Emma Hoyer contributed 18 points and eight rebounds to the win. Rachel Harmon also scored in double figures for the Illineks with 12 points.
URBANA – Dan Lilly scored 25 points, hitting nine free throws in the fourth quarter to lead Uni High to a 52-45 boys' basketball win against Judah Christian on Tuesday.
Uni High trailed 13-10 after one quarter but took a 24-19 lead at half.
WESTVILLE – Amy Martin poured in a career-high 47 points to power Oakwood to a 77-46 girls' basketball victory against Westville on Monday.
Makenzie Baker added 11 points for the Comets.
BROADLANDS – Koby Brown's bucket in the lane with four seconds left lifted Heritage to a 42-39 victory against Cerro Gordo on Friday night in boys' basketball.
Nick Umbarger (five rebounds), Matt McWhorter and Brown each scored eight points for the Hawks.
