MAHOMET – Kristin Belyea scored 16 points and Mahomet-Seymour handed Charleston its second loss of the season. Outscoring the Trojans 12-8 in overtime, the Bulldogs won the nonconference game 40-36 Tuesday night.
MATTOON – Jay Simpson had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead Champaign Central to a 59-27 victory against Mattoon on Friday night in prep boys' basketball.
Nathan Chisholm dished out 11 assists for the Maroons, who led 14-4 after the first quarter.
CHAMPAIGN – Paxton-Buckley-Loda outscored St. Thomas More 13-3 in the final quarter for a 44-43 boys' basketball win Tuesday night.
CHAMPAIGN – Blake Lehmann and Tanner Heinen each won two individual events and were a part of two winning relays for Champaign Central in the Maroons' 117-69 win against Centennial in a boys' swimming dual Wednesday at Charger Pool.
FAIRBURY – Centennial overcame a 10-point deficit after one quarter to hand Prairie Central its first defeat of the season, 64-63 in overtime on Tuesday night in girls' basketball.
WATSEKA – All-tournament pick Marcel Maiden had a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds, leading Watseka to a 60-53 overtime victory against Maroa-Forsyth on Tuesday night in the championship game of the Watseka Holiday Tourney.
All-tourney pick Sawyer Harris scored 20 points for the Warriors (8-0).
MAHOMET – Hot-shooting Mahomet-Seymour ran its winning streak to seven games Saturday with a 69-53 Corn Belt Conference boys' basketball victory against Rantoul.
The Bulldogs (8-2, 4-0 Corn Belt) scored their most points of the season while shooting 54.5 percent from the field (30 of 55). Guard Zachary McClughen finished with a team-high 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting for M-S. Forward Reid Farchmin contributed 13 points and a team-high four assists to the victory. Kyle Storm of the Bulldogs led all rebounders with eight.
BISMARCK – The Bismarck-Henning girls' basketball team rallied from a five-point deficit after three quarters to defeat Chrisman 43-35 on Thursday night and remain undefeated.
The Blue Devils (11-0) trailed 33-28 before outscoring the Cardinals 15-2 in the final period. Jessica Brito led B-H with 18 points.
PARIS – Kyler McFall scored 19 points to lead Unity past Paris 57-36 Tuesday night in prep basketball.
McFall hit three of Unity's six three-pointers. Patrick Mannon had 12 points and Austin Perry 10 for the Rockets.
