First-half goals spark Urbana

DECATUR – Jeffrey Igana and Jonathan Lukusa scored first-half goals and Urbana cruised to a 3-0 boys' soccer victory against Decatur MacArthur on Wednesday.

Nick Lund scored on a penalty kick in the second half for the Tigers (10-7-2).

Kuemmerle nets 200th win

DANVILLE – Serena Calhoun had six kills and eight digs as Schlarman defeated Hoopeston Area 25-16, 22-25, 25-13 on Tuesday to earn coach Jamison Kuemmerle his 200th career volleyball victory. For the Hilltoppers, Sarah Barrett added 13 digs and Bri Thomas had 11 assists.

Buck, Rademacher fuel SJ-O volleyball rally

ST. JOSEPH – Janna Buck dished out 29 assists and collected 13 digs for St. Joseph-Ogden on Monday in the Spartans' 17-25, 25-12, 25-19 volleyball win against Champaign Central. Bria Olson and Shelby Geers each had eight blocks and Kelsie Radamacher pounded 11 kills for SJ-O, which improved to 19-5.

Urbana star wins Big 12 title

Katarina Marjanovic of Urbana rolled to the No. 1 singles title at the Big 12 girls' tennis tournament with a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Allison Hansen of Centennial on Saturday in Bloomington-Normal. Maria Mears of Centennial claimed the No. 2 crown with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph against Danville's Emma Peck.

Baker, Hoag power Salt Fork

GEORGETOWN – Heather Baker and Britny Hoag combined for 21 kills and seven blocks Thursday to boost Salt Fork to a 25-13, 25-12 prep volleyball victory against Georgetown-Ridge Farm.

Setter Maddy Stutsman racked up 28 assists and contributed three aces in the win.

Bushue's hat trick propels Chargers

CHARLESTON – Jacob Bushue provided all the offense Centennial needed in a 3-0 boys' soccer win against Charleston on Wednesday.

Bushue scored all three Chargers goals, with Ben Flodstrom and Jesus Sanchez providing assists.

Oakwood's Schmit sets shutout mark

FITHIAN – Oakwood's 3-0 soccer win against Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Tuesday turned out to be one full of records.

Goalkeeper Ben Schmit recorded four saves to secure his school-record sixth shutout of the season, and the Comets' win was their ninth of the season, which ties a school record. Kegan Decker scored twice for Oakwood on passes from David Tuggle. Austin Haskins added another score for the Comets.

Trolia, Bulldogs golfers tame Corn Belt

GIBSON CITY – Seth Trolia (74) tied for the low score and Mahomet-Seymour placed Adam Guth (80), Grant Dukeman (80) and Garrett Cox (81) in the top 10 to capture the Corn Belt Conference championship Saturday at Railside Golf Course.

At Normal. Normal Community edged Centennial in a sudden-death playoff to capture the Unit 5 Best Ball tournament at Ironwood Golf Course. Centennial's Robb Cozad and Peter Black (72) and Urbana's Ben Thompson and Henry Bethke were among the twosomes that tied for fourth.

Freund, Dabrowski go low for Sabers

MAHOMET – Alexis Freund shot 86 to earn medalist honors and lead St. Thomas More to the Sangamon Valley Conference title Thursday at Lake of the Woods Golf Course.

The Sabers' Claire Dabrowski was second with a 90. St. Thomas More shot 365.
