Twins announce for NIU
MONTICELLO – Juniors Kaitlyn and Kristyn Barrett have committed to continuing their softball careers at Northern Illinois. They will enroll at the DeKalb school in August 2011 and are both projected as outfielders.

The Chargers won 10 events, scored nearly as many points as the other three teams combined and won the Twin City championship won by 42 1/2 points.
With the girls' soccer playoffs getting under way, staff writer Marcus Jackson offers storylines for five different spring sports postseasons:
FITHIAN – Casey Fletcher tossed a five-hitter and struck out 12 to lead Oakwood's 2-1 victory against Bismarck-Henning on Monday in prep baseball.
The Comets (17-9) scored twice in the sixth to take the lead. Trace McClintock and Jimmy Rutledge had RBI singles.
Fletcher (8-1) did not walk a batter.
ST. JOSEPH – Kyle Golden shackled Tuscola on five hits to lead Schlarman to a 13-1 victory in the championship game of the St. Joseph-Ogden Baseball Classic on Saturday.
Golden struck out eight. He drew offensive support from Zane Dillon, who had three hits, and Alec Neal, who knocked in four runs.
CULLOM – Luke Ducey pitched a five-inning perfect game on his birthday as St. Thomas More rolled to a 10-0 baseball victory against Tri-Point on Thursday.
URBANA – Timely offense and a sparkling defensive play for the final out helped Urbana beat Centennial 6-5 on Tuesday night in a Big 12 baseball game.
CHAMPAIGN – Fortunately for the Centennial girls' soccer team, its seasonlong pattern continued Tuesday.
Chantal Meacham's goal in the match's first five minutes helped the Chargers defeat Champaign Central 1-0.
