Down to its final out with the bases empty, the Bulldogs erupted for six runs to stun the host Maroons. Joe Kenney and Cullen Day each had two-run singles in the seventh for M-S, and winning pitcher Chris Redman held Central to two hits over the final four innings.

Tuesday's prep highlights: Fisher rolls in softball

Fisher 17, Tri-Point 0. Winning pitcher Kelcie Fredrickson helped her cause with two hits (triple) and three RBI for the visiting Bunnies in the five-inning game.  

Kalli Gosser (four runs, double, triple, three RBI), Rachel Tobeck (two doubles, three RBI) and Molly Fairfield (3 for 3, two runs, two RBI) paced Fisher’s offense.

Monday's prep highlights: Reinbold powers Sages in soccer

MATTOON — Emma Reinbold had a hat trick, leading Monticello to a 3-1 victory against Mattoon on Monday in girls’ soccer.
Sages keeper Elizabeth McGiles recorded nine saves.

Thursday's prep highlights: Finke earns all-state honors

MOLINE — Centennial basketball player Michael Finke was selected to The Associated Press all-state first team in Class 3A.

The all-state team, voted on by a statewide panel of sports writers and broadcasters, was announced Thursday.

For the ninth time in the past 12 years, the Vikings captured the Big 12 Conference indoor league crown. Alexus Jimson-Miller won three events, sprinter Emone Davis was victorious and the 800-meter relay was triumphant. Davis was joined on that foursome by Ambrosia Williams, Jorriel Stewart and Arionna Graham.
