Bulletin Board: No place like home for Carver

OAKLAND — After Charlie Carver’s last year as Tri-County boys’ basketball coach (2008-09), he and his family relocated to Florida, where he coached for a year near Lake Wales. He found, “we were back and forth a lot,” so he returned to Illinois and landed at West Central (in Biggsville) for the past two seasons.

Kroner: There's a chunk of change going on

Welcome to the new normal.

Conference realignments are becoming as prevalent on the area athletic scene as are the planted rows of corn in the early spring in the area’s fertile fields.

This isn’t a new trend.

Kroner: This time, IHSA got it right

Sports are out of control, and it’s time to reverse the trend.

There are so many problems associated with the games people play, it would take a week’s worth of work shifts to list them all.

We can’t expect immediate change, but we can — and should — demand movement in a different direction.
