NORMAL — The Danville softball team's bats were held in check by Normal Community's Nicole Nonnemacher in the Ironmen's 10-0 Class 4A regional semifinal win Tuesday.
Nonnemacher limited the Big 12 rival Vikings to one hit in the five-inning contest, improving her record to 22-3.
Jordan Ogle recorded the lone hit for Danville, which concluded its season with an 8-23 record.
URBANA — It was one game out of the 35 Urbana's Tigers have played during this softball season.
Yet Monday's Class 3A regional opener easily mirrored the season: Down, but not out.
Before Urbana batted against visiting rival Champaign Central — before even recording an out — the Tigers were in need of a comeback.

Heritage 3, Schlarman 1. HILARY SMITH threw a four-hitter, striking out 10 to lift the host Hawks to their first regional title in school history.
HOOPESTON — A year ago, a junior-laden Paxton-Buckley-Loda softball team fell by a single run to Bismarck-Henning in a regional championship game.
The Panthers never forgot the feeling, with coach Lindsey Alred saying prior to the teams' rematch in the Class 2A Hoopeston Regional championship, "I don't have to bring it up, they were all here."
BROADLANDS — Four seniors have played softball four years at Heritage High School, establishing a legacy that will last forever.
Another group may come along and duplicate the Class of 2012's record of four consecutive 20-win seasons, but no future graduating class can surpass it.
