Thursday's prep highlights: Cross paces Centennial

Girls' basketball

Centennial 53, Central 40. Chelsea Cross scored 14 points in the third quarter, helping the Chargers expand a six-point halftime lead to 11 in a Big 12 Conference home victory against their Champaign rival. Cross finished with a game-high 22 points. Jakeenya Evans led the Maroons with 16 points.

Saturday's prep highlights: STM girls claim fourth straight SVC title

In Champaign, St. Thomas More beat CPCI 39-32 for its fourth consecutive SVC tourney title – and fifth in six years.

Friday's highlights: Ransom, Tuscola edge A&M

Boys' basketball

Tuscola 40, Central A&M 39. CHRIS RANSOM scored 11 points as the Warriors held on. BRETT CLIFTON added eight points.

Shiloh 46, Lovington 35. KALEB HOOD's 14 points and 16 rebounds lifted the Raiders. CODY BOSCH added 10 points.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 42, Deer Creek-Mackinaw 36. REGAN ROMSHEK had a game-high 14 points to lift the Falcons, who led 17-3 after one quarter in the McLean County Tournament in Lexington. ALI COWELL added 13 points for GCMS, which improved to 10-10 on the sea-son.

Tuesday's prep highlights: PBL edges CPCI

Boys' basketball

PBL 36, CPCI 33. TYLER DUNAHEE led the Panthers with 10 points and DYLAN OVERSTREET added nine. STERLING YOUNG had 10 points for CPCI.

Bulletin Board: Injury only a scare for Skelton

CHAMPAIGN – Kegan Skelton was injured for the first time in his diving career early last week. The Centennial all-stater is thankful it wasn't more serious.

Centennial 64, Springfield Southeast 57. JOSH PIPER scored 22 points and Centennial knocked off Class 3A's ninth-ranked team. The Chargers (11-6), who led 18-7 after one period, got 16 points apiece from LAWRENCE KINNEY and CORVON BUTLER.
