Monticello 57, Tuscola 38. RYAN DONOHUE (17 points, five rebounds, four steals) was one of three Sages to reach double figures in the road win. MATT KRUSE added 14 and NICK STOKOWSKI (nine rebounds) had 12 in coach KEVIN ROY's 100th career win.

The Chargers secured city bragging rights — at least until next month — handing visiting Central its first Big 12 loss, 61-60. Devin Carter and Taylen Alexander scored in double figures, but it was Dustin Walls' late basket that made the difference.

CHAMPAIGN — Just as the swimming season was getting under way in mid-November, Champaign Central standout Sam Stewart was battling some tendinitis in his elbow. A setback, sure, but it also might have been a blessing for Stewart and the Maroons.

Wednesday's prep highlights: Schotts lead Chargers wrestlers

In wrestling

At Champaign. Austen Schott pinned his 120-pound opponent in 1 minute, 10 seconds, leading Centennial to a 34-28 dual-meet victory against Mount Zion.

The Chargers' Samuel Lack, competing at 106, pinned his foe in 3:57, and teammate Ethan Zinchuk pinned his 138-pound opponent in 4:50.

Friday's highlights: Chargers fall in title game

Centralia tournament. Playing for fifth place, Champaign Central's fourth-quarter rally fell short in a 57-54 loss to Bogan. JORDAN CAROLINE (13 points), CLAYTON JONES (12 points) and CORVON BUTLER (12 points, 10 rebounds) sparked the Maroons.

Tuesday's highlights: Arcola rides Lindenmeyer to first win

Bloomington Central Catholic 74, Monticello 55. DALY O'BRIEN scored 13 points, but the Sages couldn't rally in a home loss. NICK STOKOWSKI added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Monticello (2-5).

Saturday's prep highlights: Centennial boys, girls victorious

Centennial 41, Thornton 40. A night after a lopsided loss to rival Urbana, the host Chargers looked to be on their way to another defeat.

Thornton led 32-20 with eight minutes to play.

But led by Michael Finke's seven points, Centennial outscored Thornton 21-8 to earn the victory.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm 70, Oakwood 52. The Buffaloes bolted to a 20-point halftime lead and cruised to a home victory. MATTHEW HAY scored 23 points, RYAN DIEU had 21 and KORIE VIRE added 14 for the winners. KYLE ELLIOTT led four Comets in double figures with 16 points. CAMERON LEE had 12.
