CHAMPAIGN — She's something of a competition junkie, but that's not always a good thing for Centennial junior Audrey Rodawig.
To hear her coach, Janell Shine, describe her, Rodawig would "rip out her left arm" if it would help her go faster and beat the person next to her.
That's the good part of being someone who thrives on the adrenaline of competition.
In boys' basketball
Pickneyville 55, Monticello 44. RYAN DONOHUE scored 12 points for the Sages, who sank 19 of 20 free throws in the Saluki Shootout in Carbondale.
In girls' basketball
Unity 36, Maroa-Forsyth 24. KENNEDY HARTMAN scored 12 points and MADIE HERBERT added eight points in the Rockets' victory.
Bismarck-Henning 48, Oakwood 11. ABBY BERGMAN had 10 points and EMILY WEINARD and BAILEY BRYANT each hauled in eight rebounds for the Blue Devils.
In boys' basketball
St. Joseph-Ogden 68, Westville 30. CHASE PATTON had 18 points and seven rebounds as the Spartans, fueled by a 32-11 edge on the boards, rolled. BRENT SCHLUTER scored 10 points.
WINNETKA — For years, the Champaign-Urbana area produced a bevy of swimmers and divers who made a name for themselves at the state meet.
But for the second consecutive year, C-U and the surrounding area will not have a competitor in the finals of the state meet.

CHAMPAIGN — Hannah Newman and the Champaign Central girls' swimming and diving team are making a habit of capturing sectional championships.
The Maroons rolled to a fifth straight crown Saturday, in the process sending three individuals and two relays to the state meet next weekend in Winnetka.

NORMAL — Hannah Newman won the 200-yard individual medley and helped Champaign Central's 200 medley relay take first as the Maroons finished second at Saturday's Big 12 Championships at Normal Community.
In girls' tennis
At Mount Prospect. Madie Baillon of St. Thomas More and Allison Hansen of Centennial won first-round singles matches at the rain-interrupted IHSA state tournament.
With weather preventing some matches from being completed, the IHSA announced on its website that the back draw has been canceled.
