Saturday's highlights: Blaase blazes

Urbana Uni 8, Salt Fork/Westville 1. GEORGE VOULGARIS scored three times as the Illineks improved to 13-0. TARIK KORIC had a pair of goals, while PATRICK WONG added a goal and four assists. Voulgaris, Wong and Koric each have 16 goals this season. ALEX MESTRE also scored for Urbana Uni.

Wednesday's prep highlights: Warmoth leads Bunnies

At El Paso. Fisher's JAKE WARMOTH fired a 42 to finish third individually for the Bunnies, who were third in the four-team event at El Paso Golf Club.

Tuesday's highlights: Chargers, Maroons score big on pitch

Central 9, Eisenhower 1. EMANUEL KOMBA scored four goals, two in each half, and EDDIE LUBAGA added a hat trick to lead the visiting Maroons to a Big 12 victory. JUAN RAMOS added three assists for Central.

Prep Year In Review 2010-11

TEAMS OF THE YEAR

1. St. Thomas More girls' golf. Six-person state-meet lineup featured five upcoming seniors.

2. Mahomet-Seymour boys' golf. Senior-laden lineup included only one underclassman, junior Garrett Cox.

3. Schlarman softball. Two freshmen started for Class 1A state runner-up team.

Bulletin board: Uniform look for Schlarman

DANVILLE — The Schlarman softball team is unique beyond carrying the No. 1 state ranking in Class 1A into the postseason. The Hilltoppers are one of the few teams that still wear stirrups as a part of their uniform.

Most programs — such as Schlarman's baseball team — have gone to a solid-color sock.

Shine to coach Chargers swimmers

CHAMPAIGN — Janell Shine, an assistant coach for the Centennial boys' and girls' swimming and diving teams, will succeed Don Waybright as head coach next season.
