Wednesday's highlights: Plecki powers STM

In baseball

St. Thomas More 8, Momence 0. Mike Plecki (4 for 4) homered and drove in three runs for the visiting Sabers. Sean Sullivan (three RBI) and Storm Joop (double) each had two hits in the victory. Winning pitcher Austin Tabeling struck out seven and allowed two hits in seven innings.

Tuesday's highlights: Thurston delivers

Paxton-Buckley-Loda 10, Momence 0. J.J. VALENTINE went 2 for 2 and scored twice and winning pitcher LIZ SATTERLEE tossed a one-hit shutout.

North Vermillion (Ind.) 14, Oakwood 3. ASHLEY WAHLFELDT homered for the Comets.

Monday's prep highlights: Williams fans 18 in no-hitter

Monticello 8, Maroa-Forsyth 0. JACOB WILLIAMS pitched around four errors and fired a no-hitter with 18 strikeouts for the Sages. Williams (two hits), NICK STOKOWSKI (three hits) and RYAN BUNDY (two hits) all drove in two runs.

Saturday's highlights: Everingham impresses

Iroquois West 3-3, Fisher 2-13. KEATON ZIRKLE had two hits in the opener and drove in the game-winning run for the Raiders. Fisher scored seven times in the fifth inning of the second game and got two hits from TATE ESTES, NICK THOMAS and LUKE HARVEY.

Ponder going the distance for Tuscola

TUSCOLA — Lisa Ponder's future will include less running than in her past. The Tuscola senior won't be changing events, just the number of sports in which she participates once she enters colleges.

She has signed a letter of intent with Danville Area Community College, which only offers cross-country. Her track and field career is in its final weeks.

Friday's highlights: Sages hook sectional title

At Clinton Lake. Monticello won Friday's sectional championship and will be joined by area schools DeLand-Weldon and Champaign Central at the IHSA Bass Fishing State Finals next month at Carlyle Lake.

Thursday's highlights: Singh tops Aten

Baseball

Urbana 3, Champaign Central 0. CONNER GREMER pitched a one-hitter for the host Tigers, striking out five. Urbana scored all three runs in the bottom of the fifth. TANNER GOSLIN had the lone hit for the Maroons.

Wednesday's highlights: School record for Clark

Baseball

n Fisher 9, GCMS 8. TATE ESTES had three hits and TAW FREDRICKSON had two, including a triple, for the visiting Bunnies. AXEL DORAN had three hits for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.

n Armstrong-Potomac 1, Schlarman 1. The Trojans and the Hilltoppers are tied after 13 innings. The game will resume on May 9.

Rantoul 4, Pontiac 0. TERRY DEAVILLE improved to 5-0 in tossing a no-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead the host Eagles. KELLY FOSTER and RYNE WORTHINGTON each had two hits.
