Bismarck-Henning 12, Hoopeston Area 2. LEXI BALLARD had three hits and an RBI and ASHLEE RONTO added two hits and three RBI to lead the visiting Blue Devils. The Cornjerkers got two hits and an RBI from SYDNEY CLARK.
CATLIN — Every winner had a story, but the best ones belonged to Lauren Houmes and Toria Plotner.
Houmes, from Hoopeston Area, and Plotner, from Salt Fork, accounted for all three of the records that fell in Friday’s Vermilion County girls’ and boys’ track and field meets.
Argenta-Oreana 2, Monticello 1. The host Bombers got an RBI single from LOGAN SPARK in the fifth inning that proved to be the game-winner. Monticello's NICK STOKOWSKI struck out 13 in the loss, and ROSS REEDER hit a solo home run.

Recently: Won four events at the Spartan Classic: long jump, triple jump, 300-meter hurdles individually and was on the victorious 1,600 relay.
In his own words: "This year I've had PRs in all my events. I definitely put in a harder winter training season."

MAHOMET-SEYMOUR BOYS' TRACK AND FIELD
Coach Keith Pogue's team won the 13-team Gene Ward Invitational in Champaign by four points. Cale McCormick (800), Jonathan Schaap (3,200) and Derek Bunch (shot put) won individual events, and the 3,200-meter relay was also triumphant.

ST. JOSEPH — Two individual records and two relay marks were broken in Friday's Spartan Classic varsity boys' track and field invitational.
In track & field
At Urbana. Jansin Garth won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and was part of two victorious relays, leading Centennial to the team title at the Twin City Championships.
Garth was clocked in 11.33 seconds in the 100 and 23.25 in the 200. He ran on the triumphant 400 and 800 relays.
URBANA — Nicole Choquette's education didn't stop last spring just because she didn't attend Urbana High School every day.
When her father, a University of Illinois professor, took a semester's sabbatical, Nicole accompanied the family on a European trip that included stops in Germany, Australia, France, Belgium, Ireland and England.
