DANVILLE — Schlarman’s second appearance in the volleyball Sweet 16 in seven years was secured Tuesday night in a two-set sweep.
The Hilltoppers handled LeRoy 25-18, 25-22 in a Class 1A sectional semifinal match at Paul C. Shebby Gymnasium.

DANVILLE — The Vermilion County team sportsmanship awards for the fall season were won by the Oakwood volleyball team and the Oakwood/Armstrong-Potomac football team.

URBANA — Centennial’s volleyball team was given the regional championship plaque Thursday night at Oscar Adams Gymnasium, but only after the Chargers earned it on the court.
Coach Stan Bergman’s squad staved off two serves for set point in the opening stanza and then secured the sweep behind a strong blocking presence in the finale, wrapping up a 28-26, 25-14 win.
Bismarck-Henning 2, Salt Fork 0. For the second time in nine days, top-seeded Bismarck-Henning topped Salt Fork, though the Blue Devils had to overcome an 8-4 second-set deficit at home en route to a 25-9, 25-22 triumph. The regional title was the seventh in the past 13 years for coach SUSAN KENTNER’s teams.
LeROY — DeLand-Weldon’s Rowan Crozier scored the first three points of the match — block, kill, block — but that’s where the Eagles’ dominance ended and LeRoy’s began.
The Panthers took a 5-4 lead after an early timeout and never trailed the rest of the match on their way to a 25-13, 25-11 victory in a Class 1A regional championship Thursday night.
TOLONO — St. Thomas More tried different combinations early in its volleyball season, but it appears the Sabers have unlocked the winning formula now.
STM, which did not have a lot of experience at the outset, defeated Paxton-Buckley-Loda 17-25, 25-15, 25-16 on Thursday night in a Class 2A regional final.
Mahomet-Seymour 2, Central 1. Elise Dahlke’s career-high 22 kills and Mason Moore’s 31 assists enabled Mahomet-Seymour to secure a season sweep of Champaign Central, the No. 2 seed in Urbana’s regional.
The Bulldogs (21-12) posted a come-from-behind 21-25, 25-21, 26-24 semifinal triumph Tuesday.
