Bulletin Board: Centennial continues football streak

CHAMPAIGN — Three Centennial athletes will sign letters of intent to play football in college. It marks the 16th consecutive year under coach Mike McDonnell that at least one Charger has committed to a college and brings his cumulative total at the school to 83.

VILLA GROVE GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
The Blue Devils (21-7) won three LOVC games in four days to complete an eight-game sweep of league opponents en route to their first conference crown in the sport. Kayla Dowler hit three-pointers in each game. Courtney Helm had five treys, and Alix Ezell hit three for the week. Dowler and Ezell are juniors.

Centennial's Schott throwing his weight around again

MAHOMET — In terms of the big picture, Austen Schott couldn’t have done better.

The Centennial wrestler participated in four regional tournaments during his prep career. Each year, he advanced at least one weight class.

Each year, he qualified for the finals.

GCMS/Fisher's Wallick maintains dominance

BISMARCK ­— The rivalry continues.

Wallick, a junior on the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley/Fisher wrestling team who is Class 1A’s top-ranked wrestler at 285 pounds, beat Bismarck-Henning’s formidable heavyweight Morgan Supergan in the 285-pound championship match during Saturday’s 1A Bismarck-Henning Regional.

Cole Hasselbring had 14 points as the Timberwolves pulled away in the second half, outscoring Momence 28-23.

■ Clifton Central 40, Watseka 32. Jake Lyznicki and Alex Gocken (three threes) scored nine apiece, but the Warriors were outscored 19-8 in the second half.
