ST. CHARLES – Sam Stewart won the 100 butterfly and joined Joe Faullin, Tanner Heinen and Blake Lehmann on the winning 400 free relay to lead Champaign Central to fourth place at the St. Charles Invitational on Saturday.
BROADLANDS – Koby Brown's bucket in the lane with four seconds left lifted Heritage to a 42-39 victory against Cerro Gordo on Friday night in boys' basketball.
Nick Umbarger (five rebounds), Matt McWhorter and Brown each scored eight points for the Hawks.
CHAMPAIGN – Senior Kierra Robinson scored eight of her game-high 15 points in the first quarter for Champaign Central in a 47-40 win against Centennial on Thursday in Big 12 girls' basketball.
MAHOMET – Kristin Belyea scored 16 points and Mahomet-Seymour handed Charleston its second loss of the season. Outscoring the Trojans 12-8 in overtime, the Bulldogs won the nonconference game 40-36 Tuesday night.
Saturdays are the hardest for Jeff Scott.
After 14 years of coaching Champaign Central wrestling, Scott feels the pull of the sport he left behind after last season the most intensely on that day – typically the busiest and longest on the wrestling calendar.
URBANA – The way his freshman season ended certainly was a wakeup call for Archie Williams.
The up-and-coming Centennial wrestler missed regionals when he overslept.
"I'm being more responsible this year," he said.

URBANA - Ashton Haton, Dacian Alvarez, Wesley Patton, Mikal Harden and Clay Smith had pins as Oakwood defeated Urbana 40-39 on Wednesday in prep wrestling.
