Welcome to the final high school chat of the 2010-11 school year. My goodness, how fast it has gone! It won't be long until it's the end of August and we're doing this again. Thanks to all who have submitted questions this year. It has been enjoyable and we look forward to much more next year. Lets get started!

Can you give us a preview for the VVC football?

Fred Kroner (moderator) — 12:47 PM on Thu, 06/09/2011

Hi Bob. If you look at the number of returning players with varsity experience, Bismarck-Henning leads the way. The Blue Devils have a good quarterback, Krystian Ingram, a good lineman, Morgan Supergan, a good running back, Reed Collins and a good receiver, Adam Baker. That

Fred,The end of another year of the chat line. Can't wait until August.I will be checking out Urbana practices starting next week.Believe you will see a much improved team that should make the playoffs. They return some great athletes from last years freshmen and sophomore teams plus an experienced Junior class to go with the seniors. They should surprise some teams this year.Watch out in Champaign.Cam Mammen is the key but has a lot of help this year.I will report back in August. This will be the last year the Big Twelve will be the same with Mattoon leaving and possibly 2 Decatur schools merging and Normal looking to have a 3rd team in near future.Expect to see you at the Friends of Urbana Picnic June 25th at King Park.

Hi Lyle. The summer is when teams are made and the school year is when they build and refine things. Urbana is certainly in line for some better days, especially with the facilities upgrades. I'm sure Mattoon's departure after the 2011-12 season will be the first change for the Big 12. There won't be another Normal school ready to go that soon and, frankly, I'm not even sure it will happen. The issue of a merger in Decatur looms as a very possible scenario in the not-too-distant future. The Big 12 can still function effectively with eight schools, though it would create some hardships in football for certain. I wish you luck at the picnic. That's early in my vacation and not sure what my plans will be.
