Ask our prep sports coordinator if Centennial and Michael Finke have a chance to win state. He's chatting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday but submit questions anytime — on any topic.
It's that time of the week for another prep chat, so lets get started. Thanks to all who have participated.
Fred, I would like to think you and all of Rod's friends who attended his Life Celebration at Stone Creek Church last Tuesday about 300 people. Including the Champaign Central Football Players Coaches and A.D. Wood. The Kids wrestling Club of Urbana and about 30 close Fishermen he fished with. Cam Mammen also dedicated the rest of this years Wrestling Season to Rod. Thanks to everyone.
Hi Tom. It's heart-warming to hear stories like this in the aftermath of such a devastating and sudden loss. It always amazes me how people respond to these situations. To me, it further reinforces the impact a person has made when so many players, coaches and administrators associated with the schools or programs where he had been coaching pay tribute in that manner. The fact that the teams -- Central football and Urbana youth wrestling -- are in different communities meant that Rodney's influence truly spanned throughout Champaign-Urbana. When we look back on all of the memories and highlights, this will truly be a special one.
That's a wrap for this week. We'll return again next Tuesday at 12:30. Until then, best wishes.
