CHAMPAIGN – All eyes of Illini fans were looking upward at halftime of Wednesday's basketball game, as a video tribute to Chief Illiniwek played on the scoreboard.

For Dunia Nadhimi, it's wearing her head scarf, part of her identity as a Muslim. It's not easy being the only girl wearing a scarf in her school. She didn't like the way the other kids looked at her at first, but now most are accepting.

UI's homecoming parade policy on Chief overturned

A new university policy that initially prohibited the use of Chief Illiniwek images on parade floats has been overturned.

Ex-Chiefs start scholarship to honor Frank Fools Crow

URBANA – The students at Oglala Lakota College, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota – some of the poorest college students in the nation – struggle more than most to pay for school.

About three-quarters of the 1,300 to 1,400 students are eligible for Pell grants – federal grants available to low-income college students. But most of the students are women, many of them single mothers with both financial and child care issues to consider.
