Invitation to Apply for the Bristol Place Demolition Contractor Pool

Demolition of Various Bristol Place Properties, Champaign, Illinois

Contractor applications for the Bristol Place Demolition Contractor Pool may be obtained at the Neighborhood Services Department, 102 N. Neil Street, Champaign, IL 61820. They can also be sent electronically by sending a request to Jean.Algee@ci.champaign.il.us.

Compliance with the City's Bristol Place Demolition Policy, Equal Opportunity in Purchasing Ordinance, and the Illinois Human Rights Act is required of the successful bidder. Compliance with the Davis-Bacon and Prevailing Wage Acts will be required.

Contractors desiring to bid on the next round of Bristol Place demolitions must submit their application for the Bristol Place Demolition Contractor Pool to the City of Champaign, Neighborhood Services Department (102 North Neil Street, Champaign, IL 61820) no later than 4 p.m., August 14, 2015. All contractors that meet the requirements and are approved for the Bristol Place Demolition Contractor Pool will be invited to bid on the upcoming Bristol Place demolitions. The City estimates three bid packages will be available to those approved in the Bristol Place Demolition Contractor Pool on or about August 24, 2015. Bids will not be considered by any contractor not approved in the Bristol Place Demolition Contractor Pool. Once the City notifies all approved contractors in the Bristol Place Demolition Contractor Pool of the bids being available, the City of Champaign reserves the right to waive technicalities or to reject any and all bids or to accept any bid or combination of a bid that may be deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Champaign. The criteria, which will be used to select the lowest responsible bidder, are set forth in Section 12.5-37 of the Champaign Municipal Code and the Contract Documents.

The project is generally described as follows:

Project consists of removal and repairs to portions of the existing superstructure of the Washington Street bridge just east of First Street over the Boneyard Creek and removal and re-attachment of the existing bridge rail. Project also consists of concrete and grouted riprap at the south abutment slope of the Rising Road bridge just north of Windsor Road over the Copper Slough.

Bid documents are available from the Consultant in either hard copy or electronic format

Each bid shall be accompanied by an acceptable form of Bid Guaranty in an amount equal to at least TEN PERCENT (10%), as a guarantee that if the bid is accepted, the bidder will execute the contract and all other Contract Documents and file acceptable contract bond and proof of insurance within fourteen (14) days after the award of the contract and prior to commencement of work.

The City of Champaign, Illinois, reserves the right to reject any or all bids or portions thereof and to waive any formality or technicality in any bids in the interest of the City. The criteria for selection of the lowest responsible bidder are set forth in Section 12.5-38 of the Champaign Municipal Code, 1985, as amended and the bid documents.

The contractor shall comply with the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, the Veteran’s Preference Act, the Employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act, the City’s Equal Opportunity in Purchasing Ordinance and the Illinois Human Rights Act.

If federal funds are used to finance this project, the contractor shall comply with the Davis-Bacon Act.
