NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING A PROPOSED LANDMARK DESIGNATION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Urbana Historic Preservation Commission will hold a public hearing on November 5, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, Urbana City Hall, 400 S. Vine Street, Urbana, Illinois, at which time and place the Commission will consider the following application:

Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority House (1404 South Lincoln Avenue): Application to designate a local historic landmark, per Article XII of the Urbana Zoning Ordinance, Robert Nemeth, applicant.

The property owners are Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. The property is more particularly described as follows:

Lots Sixty-Three (63), Sixty-Four (64), Sixty-Five (65) and Sixty-Six (66) in University Heights Addition to Urbana, being a part of the Southwest Quarter (SW ¼) of the Southwest Quarter (SW ¼) of Section Seventeen (17), Township Nineteen (19) North, Range Nine (9) East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Champaign County, Illinois.

The public hearing on November 5, 2014 will be held to consider historic landmark designation for the aforementioned property. Following the public hearing, the Historic Preservation Commission can approve or deny the application if the property owner consents to the landmark designation. If the property owner opposes the landmark designation, the Historic Preservation Commission will recommend to the Urbana City Council whether to approve or deny the application.

PROPOSED ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Plan Commission of the City of Urbana, Illinois will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 7:30 P.M. in the Urbana City Council Chambers, 400 S. Vine Street, Urbana, Illinois, at which time and place the Commission will consider the following:

Plan Case 2244-T-14: An amendment to Article IX of the Urbana Zoning Ordinance to allow electronic message board displays on signs in the CRE, Conservation-Recreation-Education zoning district, Urbana Zoning Administrator, applicant.

The Urbana Zoning Administrator is proposing to amend Article IX of the Zoning Ordinance to allow electronic message boards on signs in the CRE, Conservation-Recreation-Education zoning district. Currently electronic message boards are only allowed on signs in the B-3, General Business zoning district. Other sections of the Zoning Ordinance may also be updated as needed. The proposed amendment is subject to change during the public hearing process.
