Woody Guthrie's granddaughter to perform
URBANA – The Urbana Free Library will present live music by Woody Guthrie's granddaughter, Sarah Lee Guthrie, and her husband, Johnny Irion, at 7 p.m. Monday at the library.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Sarah Lee Guthrie and Irion perform music that is a contemporary take on the simplicity and lyrical beauty that distinguish the work of Sarah's legendary grandfather.
"In the same way that Woody championed the common man in the Dust Bowl days and wrote about universal themes that matter to all of us, Sarah Lee and Johnny write and sing about today's issues and concerns in a way that is realistic but still optimistic," says a news release from the library.
