An Evening with Colson Whitehead

An Evening with Colson Whitehead

WE WELCOME #1 New York Times bestselling author Colson Whitehead to talk about his latest novel, The Underground Railroad. Whitehead won both a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award for the book. The story is a shattering meditation on the United States’ complicated political and racial history and chronicles a young slave’s journey during a desperate bid for freedom in the antebellum South. In April 2017, Whitehead was named one of Time Magazine‘s “100 Most Influential People.”

Doors open at 6:30 pm. A signing will follow the talk and copies of The Underground Railroad will be available for purchase. Part of the Great Authors at the Library series. Made possible with support from the Library Friends.

Hosted by the library’s Table Talk Book Club. Table Talk is celebrating 16 years of getting together monthly to talk about books by contemporary African-American writers.

Jane Addams Bookshop will be on site selling books.
