Giannoulis admits he knew he was making loans to mobsters on national television...

Asked three times for a yes or no answer on Meet the Press Sunday morning, Giannoulis would only say that he "did not know the extent" to which his customers were inolved in criminal activity.  A nice bit of underwriting by the "senior" loan officer.  The political translation is that he knew these people were involved in criminal activity, and chose to do business with them anyway.

Giannoulis wants to be elected to bring some "fresh" ideas to Washington.  I guess using a legitimate banking system to fund organized crime could be considered "fresh" for some of us downstaters.  Getting away with it in Chicago though...?  Well, there's nothing new about that.
