I intended to create a lengthy post about America's Ghandi, but, once again, thanks to the internet (don't let 'them' take it away from us) I can save a lot of wear and tear on my typing finger.

The article linked to below has a short video intended to remind people that it was not James Earl Ray that killed King, but factions of the Memphis Police Force, the Tennessee State Police, the FBI, the CIA, and the US military.  Along with the hundreds of thousands across the nation that rallied to his leadership, eventually clergymen of all stripes marched with him in support of the end of segregation.  His group was also infiltrated by Hoover's FBI.  However, when King started preaching about the power elite and the evil that it promoted, he crossed the line.

It also supplies, verbatim, the letter from a Memphis jail in which King responds to a group of fellow ministers who accused him of 'moving too fast' during the civil-rights movement.  It's too bad that today's churches suffer from the same weakness that King mentions.  Generally speaking, if they don't serve with Taliban-like obedience to our government, then they are guilty of having us bury our heads and ignore who the enemy truly is.  Of course, there's also the matter of losing their tax-exempt status if they were to speak the Truth.  (Should that 'opinion' be put in the 'Inmentionables' thread instead of here?)
