Those racist Florida Tea Partiers overwhelmingly voted for the only candidate of color in the most recent Florida Straw Poll. So racist, that.
Why, though, doesn't this victory get more coverage? Even the left wing government media outlet NPR reports that many or most of the subsequent stories weren't about Cain's victory, but were more about the loss of the other candidates. Isn't that odd? http://www.npr.org/blogs/politicaljunkie/2011/09/26/140704557/florida-straw-poll-results-focus-less-on-cain-winner-than-perry-loser
Meanwhile, in other news, Barak Obama tells the Congressional Black Caucus to take off their "bedroom slippers" and stop complaining and crying. Maxine Waters, who was recently quoted as telling the Tea Party to go straight to hell, Al Sharpton, and Charlie Rangel all gave the Pres a pass. http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2011/09/26/2011-09-26_charlie_rangel_maxine_waters_and_more_praise_obamas_rallying_of_troops_at_black_.html
All those looking for racism, can find it almost anywhere. Race will always compel some to do or not to do something. In the political realm, it does not have a big as impact that one might think. Politics is a beauty contest to start with. People will like a candidate because of eye appeal, then come around to the candidates views. If the views are not what they want, they go to the next appealing one and so on.
Those that are racist will find it on matter if it is there or not. So keep looking and I and many others will do what we always do, try to pick the best for the job.
Gee, what's more dull, hearing people brand the Tea Party racist or hearing Tea Partiers complain about it? Or listening to Tea Partiers pretending that they understand racial politics...that's not really as dull as it is profoundly uncomfortable.
If you really want this "issue" (the racism of the Tea Party) to die, ignoring it and not bringing more attention to it might be a good start.
