Davis Case

As usual, when there is a story about the corruption in the Illinois justice system, comments are closed on the article. I don't blame the guy one bit for filing a lawsuit. Too often, the police, investigators and prosecutors fabricate or withhold evidence or outright lie to close a case. those people should have to go do his time in supermax. The record should also show what they did so the other inmates know about it. The following quote from the article sickens me:

"Lawyers from the appellate prosecutor's office in Springfield were not available for comment. Given the liability the state faces in a potential wrongful-conviction lawsuit, it's unlikely the state will acknowledge that Davis is actually innocent of the crime".

That is the typical thinking in this state. Money before all else. If I were on a jury, I would give him a million a year for the time he served. Then, after seeing this quote, I would triple the award. The people are close to rising up. When they do, it will start in Illinois.

And those people will

And those people will promptly be put down! The American justice system may have it's faults but it's still a system where the innocent are not wrongfully prosecuted the majority of the time.Let me guess.Your one of those career criminals that got some bogus charges for a crime you didn't commit? But has got away with alot of crime and didn't get busted.Just consider yourself lucky that you cheated fate and shut up.And since your so adimit about giving him way more money then he could have ever fathomed to make as a free man of society, the burden of cost should come from your bank account.

No handyman, I am not a criminal. I know how cops and officials lie in order to close a case. My post that I wrote to you last night disappeared so I assume that you must have whined to the moderator. This paper has a proud history of censorship. You wouldn't like it if one of your family was jailed for something that they didn't do. Of course, we need to keep the money machine going, so why don't you volunteer you and your family to go to jail for 30 years so that they can make money off of you? That might keep someone else from being targeted unfairly. It is pretty sad that you have the attitude that if a black man commits a crime, then just grab the first one that you see and lock them up for revenge. May karma catch up to you.

So, if I understand your reasoning, anyone who has any complaints about the criminal justice system must be a convicted felon.

If you ask me, we should aim better than "the innocent are not wrongly prosecuted the majority of the time."  Ending private prisons would be a good start.  The prison system has turned into an industry, and has boatloads of lobbyists seeking to influence lawmakers and the courts so that they can tag and bag as many citizens as they can.  Sure, most of the people in prison ought to be there.  Yet, way too many of them should not be.
