Social-media post prompts police presence at Centennial

A Champaign Police Department vehicle sits in front of Centennial High School on Monday after administrators were made aware that a student posted a concerning message Sunday on social media. Additional police staff were made available at the start of the school day, Unit 4 spokeswoman Emily Schmit said. 'We believe that the situation today has been averted and police are actively investigating and addressing any issue by the person(s) in question,' a release said. 'The school was not placed on a hard lockdown today, yet additional safety measures were taken to direct students to their classes as they entered the school.'
