Camp aims at speech problems

DANVILLE – Enrollment is under way for Camp Chatter, a four-week therapy program in Danville for children pre-kindergarten through fifth grade with speech and language needs.

The program builds on speech and language therapy children receive in school to help them maintain skills and progress over the summer.

The program is sponsored by the speech language department at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center

It will run from June 5 to July 1, on Wednesdays and Fridays, with each session lasting an hour.

The cost for four weeks is $80.

Scholarships are available through the HALO Project sponsored by the hospital foundation.

Provena wellness workshop focuses on women's issues

CHAMPAIGN – A free workshop focusing on wellness for women will be held at 6 p.m. May 26 at the Provena Center for Healthy Aging, 410 E. University Ave., C.

It will include healthful snack ideas and samples, mind and body exercise ideas, blood sugar screenings and interactive booths catering to women.

Provena asks those planning to register in advance by calling 337-2022.

Asthma program set at public library

CHAMPAIGN – A free community education program about asthma will be held at the Champaign Public Library, 200 W. Green St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Sponsored by the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District and the University of Illinois College of Medicine, it will include two guest speakers, on-site supervised child care, door prizes and refreshments.
