Provena names to become Presence

URBANA — Part of the names of Provena Covenant and Provena United Samaritans medical centers will change next year.

The two hospitals will be renamed Presence Covenant Medical Center and Presence United Samaritans Medical Center, to reflect the name of their new parent organization, Presence Health.

Presence Health was selected earlier this year as the name of the health care system that was formed by the merger of Provena Health and Resurrection Health Care in 2011.

Covenant's spokeswoman Crystal Senesac said the Provena name will continue to be used on external emails and forms patients see through the end of this year, and then the new Presence name will be used when the new signs go up early next year.

A new Presence logo was unveiled at all 12 hospitals in the Presence system Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Senesac said both the Urbana and Danville hospital staffs will begin gradually introducing the Presence name over the next few months to patients by mentioning that the hospitals are a part of Presence Health when phones are answered.
