Free product to seniors. Starting July 9, 10 to 11 a.m., every Tuesday and Thursday, rain or shine, throughout the summer, Faith in Action South parking lot, 302 N. Statee St., Westville. In case of bad weather, Garden Share will move indoors. Faith in Action South will be helping seniors on a fixed income put food on their tables, while preventing waste through the fourth summer of the "Garden Share" program. Urbana Parks Senior Monthly Potluck. 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W. Stoughton St., U. Business meeting, meal and entertainment. Each month, seniors bring a dish to share and their own table service. Membership dues in the group are payable after or during the first meeting. Group trips are part of membership benefits. Rules of the Road. 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Hays Center, 1311 W. Church St., C; 9:30 a.m. Thursday, LifeSpan Center, 11021 E. County Road 800 N., Charleston.Class taught by trained volunteers to assist participants prepare to renew their driver's license. Sponsored by Illinois Secretary of State's Office. Anyone who suspects that an older person is being abused in any way is asked to contact a designated Elder Abuse provider (in this area, Family Service at 352-5100 or 359-4141 at night) or Adult Protective Services Hotline, 866-800-1409 or TTY, 888-206-1327. For general information about programs to assist older adults in Illinois and their caregivers, call the Illinois Department on Aging Senior Helpline, 800-252-8966, or for TTY (hearing impaired use only), 888-206-1327. Lifelong Learning. Sign up today to become a member of Lifelong Learning at Parkland College. With free membership receive advance mailings of the newsletter twice a year with descriptions of all of our Lifelong Learning class, Travelogues and programs of interest. Call 353-2055.

Health screenings. Presence Center for Healthy Aging, 410 E. University Ave., C. HEALTHaware health risk assessments and screenings conducted by a registered nurse, resources on healthy living and Provena Covenant programs are available and receive a comprehensive health status report with health recommendations. One initial free screening session per year. Free screenings in subsequent years if a VIP Advantage member. Eligibility: 55 and older. Registration required. Call 337-2022.

HOT LUNCH PROGRAM

Peace Meal Nutrition Program provides daily hot lunches at 11:30 a.m. for a small donation and a one-day advance reservation at various sites in Urbana, Champaign, Rantoul, Sidney, Mahomet and Homer.

The program is for people age 60 or older. For reservations or more information, call 800-543-1770.

Home-delivered meal clients will receive two meals every Thursday and will not have delivery of meals on Friday. Meals will not be served at the Peace Meal sites on Fridays to those clients who typically attend the congregate sites. Reservations for Monday will need to be made with the site by noon Thursday.

Monday: Goulash with beans, corn, bread, citrus salad, butter or margarine (served with each meal), milk (served with each meal).

Tuesday: Beef stew with potatoes, carrots and onions, slaw, roll, cake with fruit.

Wednesday: Sausage gravy, tri-tater wedges, juice, biscuit, apricots.

Thursday: Hamburger or brat, baked beans, potato salad, bun, fruit.

Friday: No meals served. Two meals delivered Thursday.

TRANSPORTATION

Champaign-Urbana: Rides for grocery shopping in Champaign-Urbana city limits and rides for Champaign County residents to medical appointments can be arranged by contacting the Senior Resource Center of Family Service at 352-5100.

The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District provides senior citizens with a special card for free bus transportation in Champaign-Urbana and half-price taxi service. Call MTD at 384-8188 for more information.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program, a program of Family Service, offers retirees in Champaign, Douglas and Piatt counties the opportunity for meaningful service. For more opportunities, call RSVP at 359-6500.

Senior Transportation Program drivers needed. Volunteers provide rides for seniors who are no longer able to drive themselves. Drive to medical appointments and/or to the grocery store and help carry grocery bags if needed. Let us know what days or times of day you are available. Most rides are to and from the Champaign-Urbana area, but may extend throughout Champaign County. Mileage reimbursement is available. Call Karen or Brandon at RSVP, 359-6500.
