Annual stamp show and sale scheduled for Oct. 5-6

URBANA — The Champaign-Urbana Stamp Club will hold its 40th annual show and sale Oct. 5-6 at the Urbana Civic Center, 108 E. Water St.

The event opens at 10 a.m. both days and closes at 5 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday.

Special guests at the show will be members of the American Topical Association, a national organization that serves people who collect stamps and postal history based on the topic rather than the issuing agency or type of stamp. Members of the association have planned a regional meeting for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the show.

One exhibit will look at materials that have a University of Illinois and Champaign-Urbana connection. That exhibit will have examples of materials related to Red Grange, John Bardeen, Bonnie Blair and others.
