Architect to speak at Krannert Art Museum

CHAMPAIGN — Award-winning architect Lyn Rice will speak at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Krannert Art Museum about the nexus of architecture and exhibition design.

Principal of Rice+Lipka Architects, Rice is renowned for his innovative architectural work in art museums, galleries and less conventional art venues.

He was the lead designer for Krannert Art Museum's newly renovated African gallery, "Encounters: The Arts of Africa," and continues to share his design vision on museum projects. Rice's presentation, "Curating Context," will be in Room 62 in the lower level of the museum.

Also on Thursday at the museum, CompostQ, a performance collective, will play at 7:30 p.m. The collective members are violinist Dorothy Martirano, trombonists Yu-Chen Wang and Gu-Zheng Erik Lund, accordionist/keyboardist Chris Reyman, bassist Armand Beaudoin and dancer Kirstie Simson.
