Out and about: Orpheum offers winter wonderland for children

CHAMPAIGN — Kids can enjoy indoor sledding, snowman-making, ice skating, winter-themed games and crafts and ice fishing and more as the Orpheum Children's Science Museum pairs its Snow Globe with the downtown Champaign Parade of Lights.

The parade is from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and it marks the opening of Snow Globe, where visitors of all ages can enjoy the beauty of the Orpheum Theatre in an interactive event at the Orpheum, 346 N. Neil St., C.

Admission for opening night is $5 for nonmembers and free for Orpheum members. On opening night only, Santa will be available for photographs, and live caroling will be provided by the Champaign Urbana Theatre Company Dickensian Carolers.

Admission for the Snow Globe Saturdays — which will be 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 7, 14 and 21 — is $8 (includes general museum admission); a family four-pack is $28.
