Check out the Clinton Antique Mall

I must admit I slipped up and have not mentioned the Clinton Antique Mall at the intersection of Illinois Routes 51 and 54 for quite some time.

It's been there for 24 years. That means it is likely to be around for some time. They have between 75 and 80 dealers, and they are open seven days a week. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Their 2014 Easter-Spring Show starts today. It is a once-a-year special when most of their dealers offer some really good deals. Even without the special weekend, this has always been a really good stop. It is not that far away; I just forget about it sometimes. If you need more information, give them a call at 935-8846.

Coming soon

If you have been to the PACA warehouse at 44 E. Washington in downtown Champaign, you have probably seen the cast-iron shelves that they display the lamp globes and electrical items on. In the next couple of months, PACA will have more of those shelves for sale. These shelf units are 3 feet wide and various heights. They are heavy, really heavy, and are almost indestructible. If you are interested, you should get on the waiting list now.

Good news

Plans are underway for a new show at the Fluid Event Center in west Champaign on Sept. 27-28. Sponsored by At Home magazine and four area antique dealers, it is a really good chance to get in on the ground floor of what promises to be a good event. It is called the Vintage Accents Show and Sale Event.

If interested, stop by Antiques and More on Staley Road in Champaign, Charlotte's Daughter in Danville, Mercantile Antiques and Trading Company in St. Joseph or Paddy Wagon Antiques in Tuscola. You also can contact Pat Crotzer at

Bad news

I read in a recent News-Gazette that there will not be an antique show in St. Joseph this year. The stated reason was lack of leadership to run the show. If someone else steps up, they might have it another year.
