New exhibition at EIU

The exhibit "From Generation to Generation: Folk Arts of Illinois" is on view at through June 22 at the Tarble Arts Center on the Eastern Illinois University campus in Charleston.

The exhibit features work by 10 artists in a variety of traditions such as duck decoy carving, Irish fiddle, Mexican murals and African-American quilts.

The exhibition is sponsored by Company of Folk, a nonprofit organization dedicated to researching, preserving and presenting local and folk culture of Illinois and the upper Midwest. The Tarble Arts Center is one of five sites in Illinois selected to host "From Generation to Generation."

The Tarble Arts Center is at 2010 Ninth St. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m Sundays. It is closed on Mondays and holidays. Admission and visitor parking are free.
