Garden Faire Market planned in Watseka

A one-day event called Garden Faire Market will take place in Watseka from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 22. It is sponsored by the Iroquois County Historical Society and will be held on the lawn surrounding the Old Courthouse Museum at 103 W. Cherry St.

Items for sale will include antiques and collectibles, artwork, plants and flowers, garden accessories, garden art, wood crafts, handmade jewelry, stained glass, signs and photography.

The event also will feature a farmers' market.

Food, drinks and homemade ice cream will be available in the new Red Barn.

Doorknob fanatics

The Antique Doorknob Collectors of America (ADCA) will hold its annual convention from July 23-26 in Austin, Texas. I am the only local member.

Andy Streenz, owner of Bill's Key and Lock Shop, with shops in both Normal and Bloomington, is another central Illinois member.

If you're interested in becoming a member, write to ADCA, P.O. Box 803, Hackettstown, N.J., 07840 or email

I know there are numerous people in our area who are collectors but do not belong.

Big data breach

The online giant eBay was hacked. Reuters reported, "This is the second largest data breach in U.S. history."

It has been reported that 233 million registered eBay accounts have been compromised.

This news comes to me in my June 2 issue of Antique Week and was also mentioned on CBS Business News.

Of special note

I have mentioned numerous times about getting me information at least two weeks ahead of my Saturday date.

With our recent trip to Wichita, Kan., and doing the columns ahead of time, we missed writing about a couple of things that I would have done.

To those people who are disappointed that I did not mention their event, I am really sorry.

Cramped quarters

PACA desperately needs more storage space.

It would need to be really low rent or someone who could use a writeoff and donate space.

If you are aware of something like this, call PACA at 359-7222.
