Youth Explosion. Continues 7 p.m. today and Saturday, New Generation Christian Fellowship, 1401 W. John St., C. Featured guests each day and musical selections. Interdenominational and open to all. Service includes prayer, Scripture, song, musical acts, offering and a sermon from each speaker, Minister Piper Harvey on July 18 and the host, Elder Joseph L. Williams, on July 19. Offerings donated to help fund the next annual Youth Explosion of 2015. Free admission.
 
Champaign County National Day of Prayer Task Force’s monthly breakfast/prayer meeting. 9 a.m. Saturday, Denny’s Restaurant, 702 W. Town Center Blvd., C. The July “Community of the Month” prayer focus is the village of Rantoul. The task force will pray over the village of Tolono in August and will continue for the next two years until all 23 communities in Champaign County have been prayed over. Each month, seven areas of interest are prayed over: government, military, media, business, education, church and family. The task force is recruiting prayer warriors in preparation of next year’s National Day of Prayer observance, May 7, 2015. 480-6671, nationaldayofprayer.org.

Children of Hope and Faith garage sale. “Early Bird Sale,” 5 to 8 p.m. today  and 8 a.m. to noon (closing for lunch) and $3 “bag sale,” 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, The High School of St. Thomas More, 3901 N. Mattis Ave., C. July 18, $2 admission. Benefit for Children of Hope and Faith, a locally founded not-for-profit organization that helps orphans and needy children in Tanzania, East Africa. 721-2524, childrenofhopeandfaith.org.
 
St. Luke’s Food Pantry. 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, St. Luke CME Church, 809 N. Fifth St., C. Food distribution. Every third Saturday of each month. 356-4922.
 
Annual hog roast. 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1930 N. Bowman Ave., Danville. Hog roast with bounce house, kids’ games, cake walk and silent auction. Games and silent auction, 3 p.m. Meal, 5 to 7 p.m., includes roasted pork, slaw, potato salad, baked beans, homemade desserts. Hot dogs and chips available for kids. Fundraiser for lift chair for church and school playground equipment. Dunk tank to raise funds for an AED for the sanctuary. Concert in the Park. 6 p.m. Saturday, Centennial Park, southwest corner of Rankin. Featuring the bluegrass family group, The Bankesters. Veggie Tales Celery Night Fever. 6 to 8 p.m. today, First Baptist Church at Savoy, 1602 Prospect Ave., Savoy. Premiere of the latest Veggie Tales movie, “Celery Night Fever.” Mini-meal at 6 p.m., and then the movie. Popcorn and prizes. Bring a blanket, your parents and a friend.
