Bob Swisher: Fritz picks date for Paxton visit

Frank Fritz from the TV show "American Pickers" is finalizing plans to visit Robin McNish in Paxton in late September.

McNish told me that Fritz will visit Sept. 27, concentrating on a 50-mile radius around Paxton for picking.

The city of Paxton is planning a host of festivities in conjunction with Fritz's visit.

In case you have been out of touch on the subject, McNish won a contest some time ago where she would spend some time with Fritz.

It was originally thought that Robin would go on the road with Frank around his place in Iowa.

It has now been changed that Frank is coming to the Paxton area.

We will try our best to keep you up to date on what is going on.

What a month!

This month also provides one of the odd things that rarely happens.

We have five long three-day weekends — Friday, Saturday and Sunday weekends that happen five times this month. Just look at your calendar. It does not happen often.

A shoutout

I also try to mention every now and then the oldest continuing antique business in Champaign.

Visit Good Times Antiques and its owner Bea Wilmering just off of the corner of Prospect Avenue and Bloomington Road on Highland Avenue.

It is small but full of old stuff.

Phone is 359-6234.

Good antiquing!
