HOT LUNCH PROGRAM

The Peace Meal Nutrition Program provides daily hot lunches at 11:30 a.m. for a small donation and a one-day advance reservation at various sites in Urbana, Champaign, Rantoul, Sidney, Mahomet (home-delivered only) and Homer.

The program is for people age 60 or older. For reservations or more information, call 800-543-1770.

Reservations for Monday will need to be made with the site by noon Friday.

Monday: Country fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, spinach, dinner roll, fruit cocktail, butter or margarine (served with each meal), milk (served with each meal).

Tuesday: Ham and beans, copper carrots, cornbread, Mandarin oranges and pineapple tidbits.

Wednesday: Lasagna, mixed lettuce salad, dressing packet, green and wax beans with pimentos, bread, cinnamon peaches.

Thursday: Fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, broccoli and cauliflower, Texas toast, chunky applesauce.

Friday: Ham or cheese salad, hearty vegetable soup, diced pears and grapes, bread and crackers, pumpkin bar.

TRANSPORTATION

Champaign-Urbana: Rides for grocery shopping in Champaign-Urbana city limits and rides for Champaign County residents to medical appointments can be arranged by contacting the Senior Resource Center of Family Service at 217-352-5100.

The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District provides senior citizens with a special card for free bus transportation in Champaign-Urbana and half-price taxi service. Call MTD at 217-384-8188 for more information.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Cards of Caring. To honor Martin Luther King's Day of Service, we are creating cards to brighten the days of people in nursing homes. All of the fun craft material needed is provided to make the cards, but volunteers are needed from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 7. Bring your friends.

Drivers: Volunteers are needed for programs that help seniors who have challenges getting out to get groceries, to medical appointments, etc. Help is needed in Meals on Wheels, Food For Seniors, Senior Transportation and other programs. Come join the RSVP family. Drop in at the Stevick Senior Center or call 217-359-6500.

Stevick Senior Center Receptionist. Receptionists needed from 8 a.m. to noon or noon to 4 p.m. any day of the week. Duties include greeting guests, answering the phone and opening the mail. Several other places also looking for receptionists so if you can help, please call Andrea.
