Paxton group has plans for restoring former sheriff residence and jail

PAXTON — Sitting vacant and deteriorating for years, the historic former Ford County sheriff's residence and jail on the courthouse square is expected to be restored and put to use, now that it has a new owner.

Alderman urges Paxton to offer use of shooting range

PAXTON — Long-time Alderman Bill Goben is leaving the council, but he urged the remaining aldermen to look into the possible use of the city's shooting range for public classes and access.

Indiana driver hurt in Ford crash; Buckley woman ticketed

PAXTON — A Buckley woman was ticketed following a crash in Ford County that she allegedly caused Tuesday morning.

Illinois State Police from Ashkum said Janice S. Nieman, 53, was driving south on Interstate 57 in the right lane when she pulled in front of another car in the passing lane to avoid traffic that was merging onto the interstate.
