Harris named interim chancellor at an Arizona community college

TUCSON, Ariz. — An Arizona community college has hired former Parkland College President Zelema Harris as its interim chancellor.

The governing board of Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz., voted unanimously earlier this week to appoint Harris as interim chancellor, effective April 15.

Harris will remain at the post until a permanent chancellor is chosen.

Indiana trucker injured in I-74 crash

CHAMPAIGN — An Indiana man remained hospitalized Wednesday afternoon with injuries he received when his semitrailer truck rolled on its side in the morning.

A release from Illinois State Police at Pesotum said Bobby Cannon, 57, of Carbon, Ind., was driving on the ramp from Interstate 74 westbound to I-57 southbound when his rig overturned into the left ditch just before 9:30 a.m.

Georgia man arrested at Rantoul motel with runaway

RANTOUL — A man from Georgia is in the Champaign County Jail on charges alleging he had sex with a teenage runaway from Texas.

Member of the Little Rock Nine challenges residents to become agents of change

CHAMPAIGN — A member of the Little Rock Nine, a group of students who helped define the civil rights movement in the late 1950s, challenged area residents to be agents of change in the local community Friday afternoon.

“We cannot all be president, but we all can be agents of change,” Ernest G. Green said. “An agent of change is a singular individual with a dream of a better tomorrow.”
