D.W. Tries to beat the heat by staying in the shade and enjoying some ice cream from Jarling's Custard Cup. Ironically, his favorite is lemon with cold fudge... Just like me!

DW at the CHUCK WAGON DINER
DW went on vacation to New York state with Ken and Mona Hunter of Allerton, IL. His first stop was at the beautifully restored CHUCK WAGON DINER, the former Champaign and Urbana landmark, now in Princetown, New York. He checked out the JUKEBOX there and met Mr. Tom Ketchum, the proud owner and operator of the CHUCK WAGON. He looked for 'garnets' at a former garnet mine site with Abby Hunter Scheuermann. After that he found the Hudson River way up north in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.

Ray and I took DW to St. Louis for the baseball game this weekend. He begged and
begged for a new shirt and hat, and we finally gave in. He had a good time,
despite the fact that the Cardinals lost. And he definitely handled the heat
better than we did -- he never stopped smiling no matter what.

Hole, Wyoming on their first day of vacation. It was a chilly morning at
about 11,000 feet. DW rode in Erin's backpack from their home in Urbana to
St. Louis and then on a plane from St. Louis to Denver, and from Denver to
a bumpy landing in Jackson Hole. He went everywhere with Erin and her
husband.
