Capt. John ( Jack) Baughman who led the bombing raid on Berlin, March 18, 1945, being the lead plane of 1300 B-17 sorties bombing mission of the 8th Army Air Corps. The grandson of pioneer Mennonite farmers of the Gridley Prairie, Panola Township, Woodford County, Illinois, from 1860 to 1896, John and Catherine Naffziger Baughman. Being his 34th mission he was then discharged from active duty.
