Rick Johnston, MS superintendent, arranges people.Mahomet Seymour CUSD #3 is proud to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Early Childhood Center and District Administrative Center which will open for the start of the 2014- 15 school year. The ceremony was held Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. The new facility will be constructed on a site currently owned by the district, located at 1301 South Bulldog Drive, directly south of the Mahomet Public Library. The new school will take full advantage of the natural landscaping of the site and provide the children with outdoor and indoor learning environments. Separate pickup and dropoff locations will minimize safety and security risks and improve arrival and departure procedures. The new school has been designed with an abundance of natural lighting, which will reduce energy costs. There will be a natural playground introduced which will respect the natural flow of the land and will minimally disrupt the natural plantings and wildlife. The playground will be used as an instructional tool for the students and will enlighten their responsibilities to be good stewards of the environment. The new facility was designed by Ittner Architects, and the General Contractor is Broeren Russo. The district would like to thank the citizens of the Village of Mahomet and Champaign County for their support of this new facility. It will help to shape the minds of young students for years to come. photo taken tuesday November 20, 2012.
