NOW PART OF THE ILLINI CAMPUS. This vast expanse of formal gardens filled with statuaries, miles upon miles of woods and shrubbery, blue grass sod untouched by plows for 20 years, and stretches of the Sangamon valley still in theri virgin state now is a part of the University of Illinois campus-a gift of Robert allerton. With it in the single greatest donation ever made to the University went the spacious home and 4,500 acres of rich farmland. Proceeds from cultivation of the farmland will be utilized to keep up the remainder as a research center and as a park open to the public.
