News-Gazette photographer Robert K. O'Daniell retired on Dec. 31, 2012 after 43-plus years covering life in East Central Illinois. Here is a sampling of his work over the years.

Nick Anderson celebrates the winning basket at Indiana in 1989.
University of Illinois’ Nick Anderson celebrates his last second thirty foot 3-point shot that beat Indiana on their home court. Indiana’s #4 Jay Edwards (back to camera) had put Indiana ahead with 2 seconds left and was guarding Anderson when he made the basket. The win seeded Illinois # 1 in the NCAA Midwest regional at Indianapolis and sent Indiana packing to a far away venue.

The rig pulls away with most of the plows cutting into the field. The first attempt to set a the Guinness World record with a 60 bottom plow was held at The Half Century of Progress II in Rantoul on Friday, August 26, 2005. Three Vintage Case Steam tractors hitched up to a string of five twelve bottom plows.
