County officials on Thursday gave the go-ahead for Grand Prairie Co-op's proposed 51,200-square foot addition to its grain elevator in Sidney.

The Champaign County Zoning Board of Appeals voted 7-0 to approve a special use to authorize the expansion of a flat grain storage building on the south portion of Grand Prairie's property at 301 S. David St., Sidney.

County approval was required because the lot was too small under the county zoning ordinance for a building that size, according to Champaign County Planning and Zoning Director John Hall.
